My passion for service has been a constant thread throughout my life, beginning with the example set by my mother and evolving into a lifelong commitment to helping others.
I grew up in Cupertino, California on a farm in the San Joaquin Valley after the era of Victory Gardens of World War II. The area had beautiful rolling hills with the patchwork quilt of family farms as far as the eye could see. I helped our family care for goats, chickens, rabbits, sheep, ducks, peacocks, dogs, cats and more and learned about working the soil that brought food to the table. This provided a solid foundation of my work ethic which has stayed with me to this day.
My mother was a biology teacher & world-renowned orchid judge and worked as a lifeguard at Blackberry Farm. She also took on everything from cleaning to working in the snack bar and catering, always going above and beyond. Her dedication to helping others and her willingness to contribute in any way taught me the true meaning of service. It isn’t just about doing a job; it is about making a difference in people’s lives, no matter how small the task might seem—it makes an impact. That’s the mindset she passed on to me, and it’s shaped everything I’ve done since. When I moved to Oregon, my career took me through various roles, from working as a bank teller to assisting the Chief of Police and District Attorney in Hood River. But it was my time at United Telephone Company of the Northwest where my commitment to service truly found its footing. Initially hired in the marketing department, I was soon transferred to Personnel where I took pride in encouraging others to pursue education, advocating for them to take advantage of the company’s educational programs.
After 9 years and another department transfer, my new supervisor noticed my potential and goal of furthering education. I was lucky enough to have her encourage me to fulfill that dream. I was working full-time, taking care of my house and my young daughter, Monica, running my dessert business, and participating in community projects. Earning a bachelor’s degree in business management and communications from Marylhurst University was a huge accomplishment of which I am very proud.
My dedication to service extended beyond my professional life. I became the president of the Venture Club of Hood River, a young women's organization focused on community service. One of the projects I led involved providing support for mothers in need, offering guidance and resources to help them care for their children. I remember taking one little girl on a bus trip to Mt. Hood and enjoying the experience of seeing the world through her eyes. Giving her different experiences and feeling the joy of teaching her new things. Years later, I was deeply touched when this same girl, now grown, recognized me and expressed her gratitude for the impact I had on her life. Moments like these reinforced my belief in the power of service and the importance of giving back to the community.
Another significant project was my involvement with the Heart Association, where I helped organize a fundraising dinner. My goal was to have every aspect of the event donated, down to the toothpicks, and I succeeded! We had business owners, chefs, and volunteers from the community come together to make the event a success. Seeing the community rally behind a cause to benefit so many others and knowing that I played a part in making it happen was incredibly fulfilling.
When I transitioned to real estate in 1997 after moving to Portland, I brought this same passion for service with me. Real estate became another avenue for me to help others, whether it was guiding first-time homebuyers through the process or supporting families during tough times like foreclosures and estate sales. In early 2024, I joined Premier Property Group, surrounded by like-minded individuals who share my dedication to helping others!
I plan to continue growing my real estate business to create more opportunities for me to give back to the community and make a positive impact on the lives of those around me. In my free time, I’m all about adventure and connecting with people. I’m part of a Roller Coaster Club, helping launch and fly hot air balloons, taught snow skiing and raced in a dual alpine racing league. I especially love steam trains, which I’ve enjoyed sharing with my incredible grandson, Paxton Jordan. Making cheesecakes and desserts to share at events and parties is another passion. I cherish spending quality time with my daughter, Monica, who I am very proud of, and my sweetest grandson, Paxton.
As a REALTOR®, I have always seen my role as more than just facilitating transactions; it’s about educating, supporting, and making sure my clients feel confident and cared for every step of the way. But that took on even more meaning after the challenges I faced in 2010, losing my home due to the market crash. It was a deeply painful experience, and at the time, I felt like I had failed. However, going through that hardship gave me a new level of empathy and understanding for my clients. This experience deepened my compassion and reinforced my commitment to guiding my clients with care and patience, ensuring they feel supported and understood every step of the way.
In my real estate practice, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a genuine passion for helping clients. I've earned several designations, including Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), and Graduate of the REALTOR® Institute (GRI), each reflecting my commitment to staying educated and well-equipped to serve my clients' needs. I believe in making the real estate process as enjoyable as possible, telling my clients, "If we're not having fun, we're doing it wrong!" My approach is all about ensuring they feel supported, informed, and ultimately satisfied with their decisions. My business is all about YOU and my clients have repeated that back to me saying “You’re right.”
Sincerely,
Patty Savage
